We purchased this Pacamara coffee which is unique to El Salvador.  Grown at an elevation around 6000 feet above sea level on the side of the mountain that gets the breezes coming off the ocean.  It is grown and harvested in a very limited quantity.

La Prudencia Coffee Estate, is a family owned coffee farm located in Comasagua, El Salvador, at
an altitude of 4,000 ft above sea level, in what is known as “Cordillera del Bálsamo”, or the
Bálsamo Mountain Range. The farm soil is composed, mostly of volcanic materials, deposited
over the last 1,000 years from all the volcanic eruptions in El Salvador, giving our coffee unique
minerals, for the plant to produce nutrient rich coffee beans. It is worth noting that, this
mountain range is El Salvador’s first line of defense against the Pacific Hurricanes, so yes! all our
coffee plants receive that beneficial sea breeze with more minerals deposited into our plant’s
leaves, which makes our coffee unique in our region.
We are working hard each day to make a difference in our area; producing coffee is not as easy
as many would think, in 2015, a devastating disease, called Coffee Leaf Rust, attacked Central
America, which affected catastrophically the coffee plants, reducing overall yields and many
people lost their jobs, especially those whose only income is from working in the coffee farm.
What makes us different, is that no matter what, we kept working hard, planning ahead to build
a more resilient farm against climate change, disease and social problems. With social and
environmentally sustainable practices, we are offering the main specialty varietals from our
farm, like Pacamara, Bourbon, Icatu, Pacas, we’ve reduced our dependance on chemical
products, like herbicides, and we’ve decided to increase labor, to create more fair-waged jobs
in our area. We’ve permanently employed 10 workers, and create throughout the year over 30
temporary positions, to help us trim shade trees, manually harvest coffee, and other labor-
intensive activities inside the farm.
Hope you enjoy our offerings, from our farm to your cup, literally!
